The Old Theatre Deli

Southwell

The project involved the renovation and conversion of one of the only remaining Georgian theatres still standing in England which now displays a plaque celebrating the playwright George Bernard Shaw.

The present building comprises of a group of significant historic buildings ranging in date from an early C16th timber framed building through to recent 20th additions. Consequently the building is Grade II listed and forms a key part of the conservation area of Southwell.

In conjunction with UCD (Southwell Ltd) and Katherine Elliot of Advent House Interior Design & Decoration, our task was to create a sensitive and sympathetic restoration with a modern twist, creating a uniquely characterful deli and restaurant which combines traditional craftsmanship and attention to detail with a touch of fresh, modern styling.

By converting the run-down and neglected building into a stylish, modern delicatessen and restaurant serving a wide variety of local, handmade and organic foods, the Old Theatre Deli is once again a social hub within the town.

The Old Theatre Deli was featured in The Times.
