Wind Powered Home

Warwickshire

The proposal is a new zero energy/ passivhaus plus bungalow in the Warwickshire countryside. Not only will it have extremely high levels of insulation and airtightness (having a very low energy demand) it will produce as much energy as it requires through on-site renewable generation. The building form has been carefully modelled to maximise the potential for on site electricity generation from both wind and sun. The roofscape incorporates PV panels as well as a highly innovative new technology called a ridge blade. The ridge blade is a compact, lightweight and quiet wind turbine which rotates as wind accelerate over the roof. The electricity generated will be stored in batteries so that the house does not have a reliance on electricity from the grid.
